Obligation of Stewardship

As a reminder of our obligation to effectively steward contributions made to Garden City Community College Endowment Association, we adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All gifts will be acknowledged in a timely and personal manner.
  • A contribution accepted with a restricted purpose must be used for that purpose.
  • If the Association finds itself unable to utilize a contribution for its stated purpose, this will be communicated with the donor so that an alternative usage can be arranged.
  • Whenever feasible, and especially with endowment gifts, annual impact reports will be shared with the donor.
  • Proper recognition will always be given to the benefactor and public recognition must be approved by the donor.
  • The value of any substantial benefits as a result of contributions must be reported to each contributor.
  • Contributions will be accounted for using generally accepted accounting principles, which will provide a consistent, timely and accurate reporting of all gifts to the association.
